i_AM: an audiovisual installation with electronic music and physical contact as central themes. Providing active audiovisual entertainment while stimulating physical communication in the public domain.
i_AM: a statement A statement in a world that's becoming more virtual every day, shifting physical contact to the private domain...
Where people in public spaces mostly communicate through cellular phones... A world where music still connects people though!
i_AM: an interactive environment where people can collaborate on music: creative and direct.
Several people are collaborating to arrange a unique musical track from a wide variety of samples and sound effects, using the clear graphical interface with tangible objects. Dancing is allowed! :-)
i_AM: for YOU! Many complex audiovisual installations like reacTable or Audiopad were created as (novel) digital instruments and are only usable by experienced musicians/performers. In contrast, the natural interaction with the playful appearance of the Social Soundmachine makes EVERYONE a musician within 30 seconds!
i_AM: created in cooperation with several dj's and producers with many different styles, to ensure a broad musical spectrum.
People like Brian S, dj Dimitri, dj ISIS, Phunklife and Piet-Jan Blauw participated in this project. And the list is growing...
i_AM: an initiative by media designer Ramon Schreuder. He graduated with honours at the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2006.
He has a fascination for the ever-dynamic blurred space between physical and virtual worlds and how it influences our society and minds.
His passion for electronic music is a theme in a lot of his projects.
